The Xanana Gusmão Reading Room (XGRR) respects your privacy. This page explains which personal data we collect on this website, why, and how long we keep it.
What we collect
Only what you give us in a form: your name and contact details when you request a space booking, apply for library membership, register for a course or leave a comment. For library membership and courses we may also ask for an identity document. We do not sell or share your data with advertisers.
Why we use it
To answer your request, manage your membership or course, issue certificates and keep the website safe from abuse. Comments are published only after moderation.
How we protect it
The website uses HTTPS. Identity documents are stored encrypted and only authorised staff can open them. Database backups are encrypted. Visitor statistics count countries and pages only: no IP address is stored and no tracking cookies are used.
Your rights
You can ask us at any time to see, correct or delete your personal data. Write to us using the contact details below.
How long we keep your data
Personal data is deleted or anonymised automatically after these periods:

| Rejected or spam comments | 30 days |
| E-mail and IP address of comment authors | 3 months |
| IP address in the security log | 6 months |
| Security log of staff actions | 2 year(s) |
Data of active library members and course participants is kept while the membership or course record is needed, and deleted on request.
